Linking items from User Defined Tab to Value Tab

Would like the functionality to have data from the two tabs linked. It could be something as simple as making it within the layout managers that we can have linked fields, where you can select a predetermined field on another tab to pull information into.
So if the total cost changes they only would have to update the one field rather than searching for it within multiple tabs
